Our Story
Chinova Bioworks was founded in 2016 by Natasha Dhayagude and David Brown, who met at an entrepreneurship accelerator in New Brunswick. United by their passion for mushrooms, reducing food waste, and promoting sustainability, they discovered a natural alternative to artificial preservatives in a fiber found in white button mushrooms. They worked with farmers to use upcycled white button mushroom stems, usually discarded, to create ingredients with their patented green-chemistry process.
After four years of dedicated research and regulatory approvals, they launched Chiber™—a natural fiber extracted from upcycled white button mushroom stems that extends the shelf-life of food and beverages. Chiber™ meets consumer demands for transparency and quality while helping producers maintain product freshness sustainably. Today, Chinova Bioworks continues to explore the protective qualities of mushrooms, enhancing consumer satisfaction and reducing food waste.
